JuniorNet Corporation Web Site Privacy Policy
J2 Interactive Web Site Privacy Policy
J2 Interactive, LLC (“J2 Interactive” or “J2”) respects the privacy of every
individual who visits our web site, and we recognize the importance of protecting
the privacy of personal information collected. In keeping with the Children’s
Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), we are particularly committed to safeguarding
children’s personal information collected online, and to helping children learn
how to safely control their personal information while on the Internet. We
do not ask children to disclose more information
than is reasonably necessary to participate in any activity.
Our Privacy Policy has been
carefully crafted to take your privacy concerns into consideration and to comply
with privacy guidelines published by the Federal Trade Commission and other
respected online privacy advocacy groups. We may modify these policies from
time to time to better address your concerns or to make other additions, deletions
or changes that J2 Interactive determines to be appropriate.
By using our web site, you agree to abide by the terms of our Privacy Policy.
NOTE: J2 Interactive provides the JuniorNet
Children’s Service, an online subscription service for children that is safe,
secure and advertising-free. The JuniorNet Children’s Service is governed by
a separate Privacy Policy and Terms of Service that apply specifically to members
and their parents.
The Information We Collect
Non-Personally-Identifiable
Information
When visiting our site, we automatically collect certain non-personally
identifiable information such as the type of computer operating system (e.g.,
Windows 95 or Mac OS X) and browser (e.g., Netscape, Internet Explorer)
being used, and the domain name of the Internet service provider (e.g., America
Online, EarthLink).
Personally-Identifiable Information Collected from Children
To enable children to participate in some of our online activities,
we may ask them to provide personal information including first name, e-mail
address, and age.
On some activities on our site, such as where children can send electronic
animated postcards to their friends or participate in a contest or sweepstakes,
we also may ask children to provide personal information about other people.
This is usually limited to an e-mail address. We also may ask for the name and
e-mail address of the child’s parent.
Personally-Identifiable Information Collected from Adults (18 years
or older)
In order to participate in
the JuniorNet Affiliate Program, you must be 18 years of
age or older. We may ask you to provide personal information including name,
address, e-mail address, telephone number, tax-payer id number and type.
In order to request a JuniorNet trial or subscribe to the JuniorNet service,
you must be 18 years of age or older. When requesting a trial or subscribing
to the JuniorNet we may ask you to provide personal information including name,
address, e-mail address, and telephone number. Whenever we do collect personally-identifiable information
from you, we will explicitly notify you that we are doing so and we will provide
you an opportunity to either (i) "opt out" of having your information stored,
used or shared for any reasons other than follow-up correspondence with you
from us, or (ii) restrict how this information is being used by indicating your
preferences on the form we use to collect information.
How We Use the Information
Information collected from
children
We never share children’s
personal information with third parties.
We only use children’s information
for our internal purposes to allow them to enter contests, participate in online
posting, and to send electronic animated postcards to friends, and to respond
to postings they have sent us.
We use the information about
others so that children can send them an electronic animated postcard, or to
notify parents when children have entered a contest and obtain parental permission
for children’s participation in contests and sweepstakes.
We do evaluate site usage
by analyzing user information in the aggregate that is not personally identifiable.
This information will help us tailor our site to better meet your needs and
preferences.
Information collected from
adults
We use information collected
during the CD request and registration process to send a JuniorNet CD or trial
version, to bill for the JuniorNet subscription service, and to offer parents
products, programs, or services that we believe may interest them.
We use the information collected
during the Affiliate Program registration to verify potential affiliates, to
communicate about the Affiliate Program, to process Affiliate payments, and
to offer products or services that we believe may interest them.
Collection of Information by Third-Party Sites and Sponsors
The JuniorNet.com site may
offer contests, sweepstakes, or promotions that are sponsored by or co-sponsored
with identified third parties. By virtue of their sponsorship, these third parties
may obtain personally identifiable information that children voluntarily submit
to participate in the contest, sweepstakes, or promotion. J2 does not control the third-party sponsor’s use of this
information. For a list of names and contact information of outside third parties,
write to info@juniornet.net.
Cookies and Non-Personally-Identifiable Information
J2 transfers non-personally identifiable information in the form
of a "cookie," which is a piece of information that a web site automatically
transfers to your hard drive for record-keeping purposes when a web site is
accessed. Cookies themselves do not contain any personally identifiable information.
Most Internet browsers include the ability to erase cookies from your hard drive,
block all cookies or receive a warning before a cookie is stored. Most browsers
are initially set to accept cookies, but if you prefer, you may set yours to
alert you when cookies are being sent or to disable or refuse cookies altogether.

We have put in place appropriate
physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and help prevent
unauthorized access, maintain data security, and correctly use the information
we collect online.
